The Shapes feature in Play Digital Signage allows you to add clean geometric shapes to your slides. It’s a powerful design tool for creating backgrounds, dividers, highlights, call-to-action buttons, frames, and visual separators.
Get Started
Shapes are vector-based, meaning they remain perfectly sharp at any size or resolution. They are especially useful for creating modern layouts, section dividers, colored backgrounds, buttons, or framing other content like text and images.
Add a Shape
- Go to Playlists
- Open a playlist and find the slide where you’d like to add a shape
- Click Shapes
- Pick the circle, rectangle, or triangle
Change a Shape
- Go to Playlists
- Open a playlist and find the slide where you’d like to add a shape
- Find your shape or add it to your slide, then click to select it (you’ll now see the settings on the right side of your screen)
- In Color, you can change the color of the shape
- In Layers, you can move the shape up and down the layers; for example, if you’d like it to become a background for an image, you can move it behind the image.
- In Rotate, you can rotate the shape
- In Positioning, you can fine-tune the position of the shape
- In Sizing, you can fine-tune the size of the shape
- In Shadow, you can add shadows to your shape
- In Stroke, you can add a stroke, also referred to as an outline.
Remove a Shape
- Go to Playlists
- Open a playlist and find the slide that has the shape you’d like to remove
- Click to select the shape
- Click Remove or press Backspace on your keyboard
Options
In the dropdown, you’ll find a square, a circle, and a triangle.
Alignment
Maximize, left, center, right, top, middle, and lock
Color
Pick a color for your shape or use the color picker
Gradient
Fill your shape with a gradient instead of a single color
Layer
Move your shape up or down layers
Rotate
Rotate your shape
Positioning
Manually adjust the placement of your shape pixel by pixel
Sizing
Manually adjust the size of your shape pixel by pixel
Shadow
Add shadow and shadow color to your shape
Stroke
Change the stroke color and thickness of your shape
On Click
(Jump to) - Open the dropdown and pick a slide you’d like to go to when the shape is clicked (Touch optimized)
FAQ
How do I match the color of my shape?
In the settings, you’ll find a color picker next to where you usually pick a solid color. Click the color picker, then the color you want. (Note that this only works within the canvas.)
Can I give a shape a gradient?
Yes. Select the shape and use the Gradient option to fill it with a gradient instead of a single color.
Can I lock the position of a shape?
You can lock any object you have in your content. Locking an object ensures that the object stays where it’s supposed to be, and cannot be resized or removed. Read more about Locking Objects.
Can I add animations to shapes?
Yes, animations work great with any shape.
