Analytics Feature in Digital Signage

Analytics

Analytics is where you find useful information about how much or how long ads have been displayed.

With analytics (Also known as proof-of-play) you can get reports of file playbacks from your screens as proof that the files were presented. A playback is recorded every time a file is loaded by your player which then is sent to our analytics server for storage and data aggregation.

Where do I find this, https://my.playsignage.com/analytics

To start using analytics, you need to enable analytics for your screen(s), you can do this in the settings for each of your screens.

We offer several report types in both PDF and CSV formats:

  • Asset report
    • Grouped by asset
    • Grouped by screen
    • Detailed
  • Screen report
    • Grouped by asset
    • Detailed

Asset reports

Grouped by asset

This report aggregates all file playbacks over a selected period (up to 3 months) for all your screens giving you total duration and show count for each selected file.

By screen

This report is very similar to the previous one, except it also differentiates between screens so you know exactly which screen presented what file and for how long.

Detailed

Detailed asset reports will list each time selected assets were displayed in a chronological order. This report can be generated only for a specific date as it can get very large even with a single day.

Screen reports

Grouped by asset

This report contains aggregated show count and duration of all files displayed on selected screens.

Detailed

Detailed screen report lists all file playbacks for a screen in chronological order. The report can be generated only for a specific date and a single screen as it can get very long.

Which plugin playbacks are reported?

The playbacks are stored for images and videos, playback for plugins (such as weather or text) is not stored.

For how long is the data stored?

  • Asset detailed – 3 months.
  • Screen detailed – 3 months.
  • Asset report by assets – 6 months.
  • Asset report by screen – 6 months.
  • Screen report by assets – 6 months.

What happens if the player loses the Internet connection?

If the player loses the Internet connection, the device will store the playback logs in its internal storage. The internal storage however is not limitless, so to keep things safe there is a 10000 entry limit on the internal storage. To give an example, if you have a playlist that shows an image every 10 seconds (6 playbacks per minute), it can store playback history for 27 hours before the internal storage limit is reached.

I am in a different timezone, are the reports accurate?

All times in the report are adjusted to your browser timezone. This assumes 2 things though:

  1. Your computer time and time zone are correctly set.
  2. The time and time zone on your player devices are correct.

Why can’t I enable analytics (Proof of play)?

Analytics can not be activated on trial screens.

Can I choose a time range?

Yes, when you open Analytics you toggle on “Only report records from a specific time of day” and then set the time from and to,
