The Today in History plugin shows events that took place on this day in history. Use it to add interesting facts to your content. You might also like our Quote of the Day plugin.
Get Started
Add Today in History to a slide
- Open the playlist and the slide where you want Today in History
- Click Plugins in the top toolbar
- Search for Today in History in the Add Plugin window, and click the Today in History tile
- Click Today in History on the canvas to select it, and set it up in the settings on the right (see Options below)
- Click Publish
Options
Events
Specifies how many events will be displayed in the designated area.
Event ordering
- Random – Randomly selects events from the event list.
- Most recent – Will display the most recent events from the list.
FAQ
Where is the event data coming from?
The events are loaded from Wikipedia day pages, such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_29#Events. Please note that we don’t filter any events; some events may be catastrophes or terrorist attacks.
How often are the events updated?
The plugin will load events every time the slide is displayed. If you have selected random events, then the events will differ each time the slide is shown.
What happens if my player doesn’t have an Internet connection?
The player will load all events for a given day the first time the plugin loads. If the device does not have an Internet connection on the first load, the plugin will not be visible. Subsequent loads don’t require an Internet connection as the data is stored locally after the first successful load.
