About
The Instagram Hashtag and Instagram Photo plugins both work like a photo frame: they show photos from Instagram, based on hashtags you choose or on your own page’s photos.
Get Started
Before you start with our two Instagram plugins, make sure you are an administrator of the pages you’d like to show content from.
Before you start
- How to become an administrator of a Facebook page (Instagram and Facebook are both owned by Meta)
- Convert your Instagram account to an Instagram Business account.
- Link your Facebook page and Instagram Business account.
Unfortunately, this is a requirement set by Facebook, and we can’t make the process simpler. We recommend going through this setup with the Instagram Photo plugin first and getting it working. That plugin has a Page drop-down where you can see which pages have been granted access. If a page can’t be selected, it isn’t linked to an Instagram Business account.
Next, open one of your playlists and find the slide where you’d like to add your Instagram content.
Go to Social > Instagram Hashtag.
The toolbar on the right says Log in with Facebook. Click the button, log in, find and pick the pages you need access to, click Next, toggle on (Yes) the different options, and click Done.
That’s it: you can now show Instagram photos with your hashtags.
Sometimes it’s necessary to pick all pages, even though you only need access to one page. This is a Facebook bug that has not been fixed yet.

Font zoom
Depending on how big the plugin area is and what kind of font you use, you might want to increase or decrease the font size.
Caption lines
If the photo caption text is very long, it may not fit entirely. This option sets the maximum number of caption lines shown; if the caption is longer, it’s cut off with an ellipsis (…). If you don’t want to show a caption at all, just set the value to 0.
Caption background
The background color for the caption area. We recommend using a color with transparency for a nicer look – the default is a white color with an alpha (transparency) of 0.5.
Border width
Adds a border around each individual photo in the grid. We suggest choosing either black or white.

Select a color for your border
Update interval

FAQ
Search limit exceeded?
Instagram limits hashtag searches: you can search for a total of 30 hashtags per 7 days. If you exceed the limit, wait a few days until the quota resets.
How many photos are loaded?
The plugin loads 50 posts that match the hashtag condition.
Are videos supported?
No. Posts with videos are skipped.
Is hashtag search not working?
There is a bug in the Facebook API that shows up when you have only given our Facebook app access to some pages. To work around it, remove our app integration and add it again, this time ticking all the boxes and giving our app full access.
- Go to Business integrations in your Facebook settings.
- Find “Play Digital Signage” and remove it.
- In our playlist editor, click an Instagram plugin and click “Log out” if you are not logged out already.
- Log in again, this time granting access to all pages.
This should work around the issue until Facebook fixes it (see the bug report).
