About
A screen is one device that shows your content: a media player or a smart TV. On Screens you add and remove screens, see what each one is playing, check that it’s online and up to date, and change its settings, like starting on power-up, portrait mode and the nightly reload.
Get Started
Everything here is on Screens. Most settings are behind Settings (the gear icon) next to the screen; click Save when you change them. How to install the app on your device: find it in Setup.
Add and remove screens
Add a screen
- Install the app on your device (see Setup) and note the 6-digit code it shows
- Click Add Screen and type the code
- Type a name, and choose a group or a playlist
- Turn on Production
- Click Add Screen
Add a trial screen
- Add the screen as above, but leave Production off
Trial screens are for testing: they show a watermark, and Play can remove them at any time. Your first production screen is free for 30 days, without a watermark or a credit card. Leave a review within those 30 days and it stays free forever.
Upgrade a trial screen to production
- Click Trial next to the screen
- Click Upgrade
Move a screen to another team
- Open the screen’s Settings and click Transfer Screen
- Under Select New Team, pick the team
- Click Save
You need to own both teams. The screen moves without removing and linking it again. Read more about Transfer Screen.
Remove a screen
- Open the screen’s Settings
- Click Remove

- Click Screen Capture next to the screen
- Click Click here to view in the message at the top right

Check how much storage is left
- Open the screen’s Settings and click Information
- Scroll down to Disc usage
Share your computer screen to a screen
- Open the screen’s Settings and click Screen Share
- Click Start, and choose what to share
- Click Stop Sharing when you’re done
To let others share with a link: turn on Allow public screen share, then copy the link and send it to them. Read more about Screen Share.
Screen settings
Start the app automatically
- Open the screen’s Settings
- Turn on Launch player on startup
We recommend it: your content then starts again by itself after a power cut or if the app closes.
Turn the content to portrait
- Open the screen’s Settings
- Under Display Orientation, choose Portrait (clockwise) or Portrait (counter-clockwise)

Change the time of the nightly reload
- Open the screen’s Settings
- Change the time in Reload player every day at
Screens reload once a night so the cache doesn’t grow and slow down or crash the device. The time differs a little per screen.
Hide the top menu bar
- Open the screen’s Settings and open Advanced
- Turn off Show top menu bar
The bar then doesn’t appear when someone moves the mouse or uses the remote, which is useful on LED signs and billboards, or to stop people closing the app. Press Ctrl + O on a keyboard to bring it up.
Turn on Analytics
- Open the screen’s Settings
- Turn on Analytics

When you add a screen

FAQ
Why is the content bigger than my TV?
Older TVs, LED signs and billboards don’t always line up with the player, so the edges are off. Fix it with Screen Edges in the player app.
What does the red exclamation mark mean?
The screen doesn’t have your latest content yet. Click Publish next to it. If it stays red, check that the screen is connected (the dot is green).
