We looked into building a Roku app for the player, but because of the underpowered hardware, we decided not to go down that path.
Why is Roku not supported?
When setting up a digital signage network, it’s crucial to choose media players that are both reliable and powerful enough to smoothly display your content. While we could have developed our app for Roku devices, we ultimately decided against it. Their platform presents too many technical limitations and inconsistencies that would hinder the performance and reliability of our digital signage solution.
Any Alternatives?
While Roku devices are affordable and widely available, they don’t meet the technical requirements for reliable digital signage playback with Play Digital Signage. However, there are several excellent alternatives in the entry-level media player category that we can recommend. These alternatives offer better performance, stability, and seamless compatibility with our software, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free digital signage experience.
