A transparent background can be useful in many scenarios. One scenario is when you're working with zones or playlist-in-playlist.
Let's study a very common example:
You have a master playlist and in the master playlist's slide, you've added a background photo with your logo. You want this background and logo to be always partially visible in your content.
You also have one or more zones (These layer on top of your master playlist). In these zones, you want to add content and still be able to see the master playlist background and logo.
In this example, you simply change the canvas background color to transparent and voila.
