Plugin doesn’t work

We try to add new functionality to our product as frequently as we can. When adding new plugins, we also need to update all players in our network. We’ve worked hard to make this process as smooth as possible, so in most cases, you won’t even notice when this happens.

Under certain circumstances, the player may not update automatically. If you add a new plugin that is not supported in your current player version, it will simply not be shown in order to maintain backward compatibility. You will see a warning message in the web portal saying the plugin is not visible. All our updates are backward compatible, so even if your player device is not auto-updating for some reason, what is currently working on your device will keep on working!

Why didn’t my device update automatically?

Android

For Android devices, the most common scenario is if you’ve installed our app directly from the .APK file and not via an app store (Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore), in this case, there are no auto-updates happening.

Manual update:
Simply download the latest .APK file and open it with the file manager, Android will prompt you to update the installed application without losing data.

If your device is rooted, you can contact our support to request a custom app updater program from us that will keep our app up to date even if you’re not using any appstore!

Window / Mac / Linux

Our player will request updates from the release server every day between 00:00 and 06:00. If your device is behind a firewall, you need to white-list the release server domain at release.playsignage.com or update requests won’t go through.

Manual update:
Download the latest version here – Windows .exe / Mac .dmg / Linux .AppImage. Download the package and double-click it to install the latest version player software.
