The Rikomagic DS02 is a champ at handling most content formats, but we’ll be honest: it had some difficulty with our tougher tests like handling 4K videos, fancy animations, advanced playlists, and multiple zones. Still, it holds its own as a mid-level player, so if you're running a business and need a reliable player that won't completely break the bank, the Rikomagic DS02 has got you covered.

Want to divide your screen in two in order to have two different digital signage content areas? Well you’re in luck. The Rikomagic DS02 supports single zones within digital signage configurations. However, when we tried multiple zones, it definitely had some playback issues.

One of the unique features of the Rikomagic DS02 is its metal case. Many digital signage hardware options on the market are mostly plastic, so for those looking for extra durability and protection, the metal case of the Rikomagic DS02 stands out. This feature becomes particularly valuable in installations where the media player is exposed to physical handling, potential impacts, or environmental factors. It also acts as a better heat sink for maintaining proper device temperature.
Simple Playlists
When it comes to digital signage, a simple playlist usually consists of uncomplicated content like still images, basic videos, and maybe a few minimal transitions. The DS02 excels in managing these uncomplicated playlists, providing a seamless and efficient playback experience. However, when you add too much of the “good stuff”, like animations, tons of slides, and multiple long-form videos, it becomes an advanced playlist. When it comes to advanced playlists, the Rikomagic DS02 ends up beyond its limits.
Touch Support
The Rikomagic DS02 offers a notable feature by being compatible with touchscreens, enhancing its versatility in digital signage applications. Touchscreen compatibility opens up interactive possibilities, allowing users to engage directly with the display. This feature is particularly valuable in scenarios where user interaction is a key component of the digital signage strategy. It is also distinctive as not many media players in the same price category as the Rikomagic DS02 offer touchscreen compatibility.
Connectivity
The Rikomagic DS02 offers both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity so you could opt for a more stable and reliable connection with an Ethernet cable, or for more flexibility in locations, you can utilize the Wi-Fi connection. In addition, it is 4G SIM supported. This means that the device has the capability to use a 4G SIM card for cellular network connectivity which enables the media player to access the internet and receive content updates via a mobile network, providing a mobile solution for digital signage.
