Version 1.19 is one of our biggest releases yet: live streams, a visual timeline, free images and videos, and more control over sound.
Stream: live TV and cameras on your screens
The Stream plugin shows live video using HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), one of the most widely used streaming formats. Use it for TV channels from IPTV providers, or live feeds from IP cameras that support HLS.
See your schedules on a timeline
You asked for a more visual way to see what plays when, so we reworked scheduling around a live timeline. It shows all your schedules and what will actually play. Zoom in on December 24th to see the whole day, or further, to see what plays at 6 PM.
Background music on single slides
You could already add background music to a whole playlist. Now you can also add an audio file to a single slide, which plays while that slide is shown. Use it to limit music to certain slides, or add speech and sound effects that draw people to the screen. See background music.
Free images, videos and GIFs
Two new libraries are built into the editor:
- Pixabay: more than 1.7 million royalty-free images and videos.
- GIPHY: animated GIFs and stickers. (GIFs in Play now come from Klipy.)
More options in plugins
- The counter plugin can count up or down from the moment the slide appears.
- The Website plugin can refresh itself at an interval you choose.
Players
- Native ARM Linux AppImage, for example for Raspberry Pi.
- Disk usage is shown in the player settings.
- More efficient logging in the Windows, Mac and Linux apps.
