Version 1.12 of Play Digital Signage brings another social plugin, a native app for Linux and a long list of fixes.
Facebook Photo
The new Facebook Photo plugin loads the photos from a Facebook page into a photo grid on your screen. When you post new photos, your screens show them, with no extra work. It’s easy to set up, and it looks great.
Native Linux player
Open source has a special place in our hearts, and Linux is a great platform for digital signage: you can customise every part of it, from the loading screen to switching off pop-ups and updates in the middle of the day. Read the Linux setup guide.
More reliable playback
This release also fixes and improves a lot under the hood:
- Twitter content is preloaded, so it’s ready when the slide starts.
- Android devices can use their own native web view.
- Web views in extensions can be transparent, and the player hides the previous slide in a sub-playlist when the background is transparent.
- Audio can be paused for some slides.
