Product Update, February 7, 2020: Custom Fonts, Eyedropper and HEIC Images

Published on by Lars Normark Andersen

Icon of the letter A

Version 1.18 is all about making your content look right, and making players start cleanly.

Your own fonts, in more formats

You can now upload fonts in .ttf and .otf format, so your screens can use the same typeface as the rest of your brand. See custom fonts.

iPhone photos, straight in

Photos taken on an iPhone are often saved as .heic. Upload them as they are: Play converts them to JPG for you.

Eyedropper

Need exactly the blue from your logo? The new eyedropper in the editor picks any colour on your slide.

No more white flash

Players now start with a dark loading screen, so screens no longer flash white while the app starts.

Desktop players

  • The Windows, Linux and Mac apps now use Chrome 80 (Electron 8), for better web content and video.
  • The Mac app is notarised, so macOS Catalina no longer shows a warning when you install it.
  • On Windows, if registry editing is switched off and you turn on auto-launch, you get a warning in the web portal.

Website plugin

  • Set your own user agent for requests from the Website plugin.
  • Add a dynamic UUID parameter to website addresses, so each player can be identified by the page it loads.
