Version 1.22 brings Play to Samsung’s professional displays, and gives you more control over when each slide plays.
A player app for Samsung Tizen displays
Together with Samsung, we’ve built an app for their professional displays running Samsung Tizen. Note that the app is for Samsung’s professional series, not home TVs.
Professional displays cost more than consumer TVs, but they’re built to do more:
- They can run 16 or 24 hours a day, depending on the model.
- The warranty is usually 3 years, instead of the 12 months of a typical home TV.
- The built-in system on chip is powerful enough to run Play directly, so you don’t need a separate media player.
Working with Samsung also gives Play deeper access to the display. Most importantly, you can schedule the panel itself to turn off at night and on in the morning, which saves power and wear. See the Samsung Tizen setup guide.
Two new slide conditions
Slide conditions decide when a slide is shown. Two new types join the date and time range:
- Time of day: show a slide only between two times, every day. A breakfast offer from 7 to 11, for example.
- Screen: show a slide only on the players you choose.
You can combine several conditions on the same slide.
Small things
- SVG files can be coloured.
- The Time & Date plugin supports capital letters.
- Android players start up faster.
